Gabriela Valenzuela, M.A., R. Psych.
Gabriela has been a Registered Psychologist for over 10 years. She provides counselling and psychological assessments to children, adolescents and young adults. Gabriela has a special interest in working with high risk teens, trauma, self-harm, anxiety and depression. Gabriela has worked for many years within the Education System providing psycho-educational assessments and counselling for students with various learning, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. She has also provided consultation and professional development for teachers and other professionals.
Her clinical training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her approach in working with clients is eclectic and she uses techniques and approaches from various therapies, depending on what the individual needs.
Lesley Sugden, M.A., R. Psych.
Lesley has been a Registered Psychologist for 10 years. She has worked in the Education System in the capacity of providing a variety of assessments (gifted, learning disabilities, low cognitive delay, social/emotional and DSM IV diagnosis), strategies for success in both the school and home environments and providing consultative services to parents and professionals. As well, she has provided counselling services to students with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioral issues.
She has also worked in a number of agencies, in a variety of capacities working with high risk teens, special needs young adults and families dealing with domestic violence.
Lesley has a special interest in trauma and working with children and adolescents dealing with a myriad of learning and mental health issues. She addresses individual needs with an eclectic approach, utilizing her training in Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Play Therapy and Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (trauma) training, depending on what is most effective for the individual.
